Cailyn loves to sing!

The Drive-In

Last night Jason and I decided to take the girls to the Drive-In Theater. They were playing "Meet the Robinsons" and "Ratatouille"-I'm not sure I spelled that correctly. We had so much fun. In between the movies Cailyn and I ran around the open field right in front of the screen while Jason prepared for his meeting this morning. Jessica slept on the back seat of the van through both movies. That is probably one of the funnest ways to see a movie as a family.

Well, the first movie started at 8:00 and the theater is an hour away so we didn't get home until about 1:00 am. Jason had to be in Weatherford at 7:30 this morning for Bishopric meetings. The girls woke up at 7:45 and were geared and ready to play. Needless to say, "We are tired." But it was all worth it.

Our meeting time changed and we had to be in Granbury at 11:30 so we were doing things differently this morning than we are used to. We arrived to church in plenty of time, so we had some Sunday Morning Success. We need to try to remember that it can happen the next time we are struggling.

Families Can Be Together Forever

There is this couple in our Ward who has struggled their entire married life to have children of their own. They had multiple pregnancies but were unable to keep any of the babies. Well, about 2 years ago, they adopted a little boy and named him Isaiah. They brought him home from the hospital. Not long after that they were able to adopt a little girl and named her Cora, she is almost 4 now. As if that wasn't blessing enough, Isaiah's biological parents had another little boy and gave him for adoption to this couple also. They brought Isaiah's birth brother, Elijah, home from the hospital also.

Well, as adoptions go, it took a while for them to be legally final, but it finally happened a few weeks ago. When this couple got the word that it was final, they immediately made an appointment for the Temple to be sealed as a family.

We have become quite close to this couple, and were invited to attend the sealing. We met my parents at the Temple and witnessed the beautiful union of these remarkable people. Seeing as the children were quite young, the ceremony was very interesting, but one of the most wonderful things I have ever seen. I will never forget the overwhelming power of the Spirit that moment there in the Dallas Temple. They are a beautiful eternal family.

These are the days of our lives

This past week Jason had a training in Irving(a suburb of Dallas). Like always he already knew the things being taught and was bored the entire time. I remember trainings like that, where you are sitting there wondering, "What in the world am I supposed to get out of this?" or thinking, "Someone is waisting a lot of money on this." Either way, I know that he was happy to be home. As are we, as are we.

Anyway, while Jason was out of town, the girls and I went to my parents' house in Waco. Both of my parents work so we spent the days at their house, anxiously awaiting their arrival in the evening. Their calling in church right now is to teach a new member class on Monday nights. They have also decided to feed those who come, so the girls and I helped my Mom get ready for that, then enjoyed a wonderful lesson on the Priesthood.

Tuesday, Mom took us out on her lunch break. It was nice to see her classroom and meet some of her students. AND of course, we got to show off the girls. That was fun. I was also able to see a choir concert by one of my friends from college(I also worked with her here in Mineral Wells). She is a Junior High Choir Director in a very dangerous neighborhood in Waco. Needless to say, I didn't want to go there by myself with 2 little, and beautiful girls. So, I asked my Dad if he would escort me down there(Thanks Dad, I love you). The concert was what one would expect from Junior High Choirs. Not exactly entertaining, but you know that it is a work in progress.

Wednesday, Mom got the results from her latest MRI. It wasn't the best news. Her tumor is quite a bit bigger than it was 3 months ago. She is currently taking Chemo trying to fight it. She is one of the strongest women I have ever met. She has beaten dreadful statistics and continues to do so.

I think that the best part about visiting my parents has to be watching the relationship they have with my kids. If you have seen my father, he is kind of physically intimidating, yet my tiny "almost" 3 year old is not frightened at all. She attacks him as if he should flee from her. It is so fun to see her 'run the show' with him. She definitely has him wrapped around her little finger. When dinner time rolls around she sometimes has a hard time eating the stuff she doesn't like, but for some reason she can finish it at Meme and Da's house. I know that "secretly" Meme is eating some of it for her(I caught you Mom, but your secret is safe with me).

We are all glad to be home.

Conference Weekend Getaway

This past weekend was General Conference. Since we lost our building in February we have found that it is hard to travel all the way to Granbury to attend the meetings. So, we decided to travel to Azle instead to watch Conference at my cousin, Sadie's house. Sadie and Bryan have 2 kids (Hannah is almost 3, and Joey is 15 months) We had a great time, and the kids had a blast playing with each other.

Jason and Bryan are both in school so they were studying on their laptops during conference. After a while they both got tired and fell asleep. I find it amazing that they could even sleep with everything that was going, but here is the proof.

When the guys left for the Priesthood meeting, we girls and the kids went to the Mall. It was interesting fitting all the kids into the car, but they loved being that close to each other. They sang almost the entire time. The kids got to play at the play place there in the middle of the mall. It is so cool to see kids play with other kids they don't know. They help each other up, giggle, and play like they have known each other forever. Perhaps if we adults be like children to each other then the world would be a better place.

Story Time

Sometimes I forget how sweet my kids are. Even though Jessica is so small and can't do much for herself, Cailyn still can find a way to play with her. The other day I needed to take a shower, but both girls were awake. I put Jessica down on Cailyn's bed and when I got out of the shower I found Cailyn reading her a story. It was the cutest thing, I had to take a picture of it. I wish I could remember those sweet moments when either I or the kids are being ornery.

One of the amazing things is that she also let Jessica use her blanket. Wow! My baby is growing up.
