I have decided that I can no longer use Jessica as an excuse to be overweight. She is 7 1/2 months old now and that means that I no longer have 'just had a baby'. So, in order for me to have some kind of accountability I am making a public announcement that I am actively trying to lose weight. Maybe this will help me be motivated to watch what, how much, and when I eat.
My plan so far is to make sure I drink 8 glasses of water a day. I will only have one helping at each meal and I will stop eating by at least 7 pm each night. I will also do a 30 minute work out at least 3 times a week.
If anyone has some suggestions of something that works really well for them, please share. I can always use your encouragement. Thank you for your help and motivation!
Happy New Year!

GOOD LUCK! I am going to start to train to do a 3 day walk, so maybe we can set some kind of program up between us--for encouragement. My cousin is doing the south beach diet and lost 11 pounds in the first 2 weeks...just a note.
Let us know how things are going! Good luck!
Good for you. Kyle has me doing the Bill Phillips "body for Life" thing that is at bodyforlife.com so far all I am is sore, however I am not hungery at all. I will let you know how that works. If that thing, program works as it should, I should be able to toss my meds, that is my goal, and the before and after pics. should show two old guys who look very different. Mindi you are beautiful at any wieght, however our health is part of our stewardship. What ever you do make sure you can handle it for life. Get-er-Done.
Good for you... Kyle has me doing the body for life thing. You can get on that at bodyforlife.com I will tell you if it works for me as for now I am just sore, however I am not hungery, we will see I just want to wear stuff with out so many X's on them. Mindi, you are a beautiful person at any wieght, however health is part of our stewardship. You can do it.
You are beautiful just the way you are! Here are a couple of tips. Envision yourself already at the weight you want to be. Believe it's possible. Believe it is taking place. Next, any time you think about it, sitting, walking, resting, etc. pull your stomach muscles in. Think belly button to spine. This is very effective at burning calories even when you're not doing vigorous exercise. Good-luck and remember you are beautiful! Love, "Lita"
It sounds like you already have a great plan outlined. Many times people confuse thirst with hunger and eat when they aren't hungry, so your goal to drink plenty of water is smart. Only having one helping at meals is key, as well as not eating past a certain time. These goals will help to manage calorie intake. I have found sometimes I'm not necessarily hungry, I just want something in my mouth, so I chew gum a lot to satisfy that craving. I also don't have tempting foods in the house most of the time. I check the grocery store sales (walmart often times doesn't have as good of sales on produce)and buy produce that is in season and on sale for snacks. I also have a list somewhere of 50 snacks with 100 calories or less. I can e-mail it to you if you would like. It's good to eat small meals frequently and avoid getting totally famished. People tend to over eat more when they are starving. Last thing, remember to do some weight bearing exercises (lifting soup cans or dumbells for example). This reduces risk for osteoporosis and muscle burns fat faster than fat, so as you develop more muscle it should be easier to lose weight. Good luck Mindi! I am excited for you. Please keep me posted of how it is going.
